St Barnabas
Centre, Danesmoor

After the first service the Vicar, Rev’d Matthew Barnes commented,
“It was a wonderful occasion with great significance to many people.
It’s a fantastic sign that the Church is not dead and has plenty of life
to offer.” He went on to explain, “with the experience of members for
the old St. Barnabas Church and the energy and vitality of Sanctum I’m
confident this church will go on from strength to strength”.
Mark Broomhead, the church’s lay-curate who will be heading up the
congregation with Matthew said, “we’re really excited to move into this
wonderful facility, I’m looking forward to the challenge of helping
people understand God’s love for them in what can be a challenging
community”.
The centre itself is a community partnership project which is led by
the North Wingfield Team PCC. Besides the church many other community
activities will be based in the building including a pre-school group,
community groups, and community training initiatives.
The Bishop of Derby dedicated the building in February 2008. |
